What to expect
From start to finish, your vision is my vision. All facials start with a thorough skin analysis and consultation. From there we adapt and adjust the facials according to your skin type as well as discussing an agreed treatment plan.
Depending on your skin type and chosen procedure all facials include a face, neck, shoulder, scalp, hand and arm massage. These facials are results driven, scientifically proven and can be done in your lunch break, however with my background I like to include massage for the physiological and emotional benefits to the skin and client. As I go through each stage of the facial I explain thoroughly the protocols, benefits and the reason for each stage.
Having facials is not about vanity or luxury, it’s about being able to help your skin grow old gracefully. So book with SSC today for a thorough consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Chemical Peels
-
Chemical peels involve the application of a chemical solution to the surface of the skin. This allows for the careful removal of its outer layers and stimulate the growth of new cells.
-
Chemical peels are used to treat: wrinkles, discoloured skin, dry skin, acne, acne scarring, oily skin, lines, sun damage and dull or lifeless skin.
-
Chemical peels work with the help of acids within the peel that raise the acidity of the skin. Changing the pH level chemically loosens the cells that form the “glue” between dead and healthy skin underneath.
-
The results of chemical peels will always depend on your skin type, skin condition and the issues you’re treating with chemical peels as well as the depth and strength of the chemical peels your physician advises for you. Light chemical peels last an average of 1 – 2 months, medium 2 – 6 months and deeper chemical peels expect anywhere from 6 – 12 months.
-
If you have a history of poor healing of the skin or keloid scarring you may not be suitable for a peel, especially for deeper peels where scarring is a risk.
-
Are nursing or pregnant
Skin Infection
Isotretinoin within the last 12 months
Accutane within the last 12 months
Asian or black skin can be at risk of hypopigmentation so will not be suitable for medium or deep peels
Clients with heart conditions should not have Phenol peels
Have sunburn skin
Have certain cancers or autoimmune diseases
Have an open wound or sore
-
Yes, chemical peels can be combined with dermaplaning and LED therapy.
-
No, the most you may feel is a warm tingling sensation.
-
The amount of down time needed for a chemical peel depends on the strength of the peel. For example a superficial peel can have a quick recovery time of under a week, however a more aggressive peel that treats deeper layers of the skin may require one to two weeks of recovery time. During your recovery period your skin may cause a slight redness, tightness, dry, peeling, flaking effect or get irritated. Because of this, we recommend scheduling your chemical peel several weeks in advance of big social events.
-
Before a peel you should avoid the following for at least 2 weeks:
Retinol should be stopped 5 days before a peel and not reapplied for 5 days after
No exfoliating or scrubs
No sunbeds
Sunburn
Windburn
Laser treatment
-
With the selection of peels we offer you may experience slight redness which could last anywhere from an hour to a couple of days. You should not necessarily expect to peel, however you may experience slight tightness and flaking, this could be anywhere from 1 to 7 days. We really recommend you try not to wear makeup for 24 hours to allow the skin to regulate itself and heal.
Care needs to be taken as skin will burn/damage more easily in sunlight and be more sensitive. Avoidance of the following for 7 days will give best results.
No exfoliating, facial scrubs for 14 days post peel.
No hot tubs, saunas or steam rooms
Avoid excessively hot showers for 3 days post peel
No laser treatments
No facials, chemical peels or microdermabrasion for 14 days post peel
No swimming for 3 days post peel
No excessive aerobic exercise for 2 days
No use of Retinol, AHAs, BHAs for 14 days post peel
No picking or peeling the area
No cold compresses or ice to the area
No waxing, electrolysis, threading or any hair removal process
Avoid makeup as long as possible
Dermaplaning
-
Dermaplaning is a popular facial treatment which is an exfoliation with the added bonus of removing the vellus hair (peach fuzz) allowing the smooth application of makeup and the penetration of skin products by up to 60% more than without dermaplaning. It can be a standalone treatment or can be used to prepare the skin for more intensive treatments such as peels.
-
Dermaplaning uses a painless blade to scrape away vellus hair and rids the skin of any build up of dead skin cells, all which can contribute to making your skin look dull and/or uneven. Just like an exfoliation, it removes any barriers which would stop your skin care from penetrating meaning your products work much more effectively after treatments.
-
Dermaplaning is performed using a medical grade scalpel to gentle scrape the surface of the face, removing dead skin cells and fine facial hairs.
-
All results can vary from person to person depending on skin type, skin care routine, diet, lifestyle as well as many other environmental factors. Due to cell turnover, it takes skin minimum of 28 days to renew and rejuvenate itself, many people will still see results up to 1 month post treatment.
-
I would not recommend dermaplaning for clients with excessively oily skin, active acne or Rosacea
-
Current or recent use of Accutane, eczema, dermatitis, malignant skin tumours, open lesions, lupus, active herpes infection, sunburn and keratoses
Any cancer therapy (chemotherapy, radiation)

-
Following your Dermaplaning appointment for at least 2/3 days you may feel your skin tingle and be a little sensitive

Microneedling
-
Microneedling is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure with adjustable needle depths, lightning speed settings and involed the use of 18 to 38 sterile needles very delicately creating microscopic wounds in your skin. The needles simply skim the dermal/basal layers of your skin to trigger the body’s own healing mechanisms. As the body detects this it starts to send out the “repair teams”, fibroblasts pump out collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
-
The effects of the initial round lasts on average four to six weeks for most people. That said, the amount of treatments and exact time frame will depend on your issues, age, skin type and how your skin responds to the treatment.

Herpes Simples
Warts
Scleroderma
Bacterial / Fungal infections
Open Lesions

-
Expect to look like you have a little bit of sunburn afterwards and possibly mild itchiness for a couple of days
-
Retinol products must be stopped 5 – 7 days prior to treatment. Make sure to leave a couple of days before a special occasion or event due to the skin being a little bit red post treatment
-
It is imperative to wear the chosen SPF to protect the skin against excessive sun exposure for up to one month after the treatment, especially when going outside no matter what the weather is like.
Do not spend time out in the sun for the first week as you have a high chance of sun damage.
No swimming, saunas, steam, heavy excercise for 72 hours – you don’t want to irritate the skin
Don’t apply makeup or use old makeup brushes for 24 hours as we want the channels clear to heal
Do not do any exfoliating or facial waxing for 7 days
Do not use anything containing AHAS, BHAS, Retinol, Vitamin A, Vitamin C (in a low ph formula), nothing that is active ingredients for 7 days
